Glycolic Acid Peels
Glycolic Acid skin peels (Alpha Hydoxy Acid peels) have been popular
for the last decade to improve the appearance of the skin. Ongoing
use of glycolic acid products has been shown to improve acne, dry
skin, fine wrinkles, blotchy pigmentation and sun damage. Basically,
glycolic acid and alpha hydroxy acid decreases the glue
that holds dead cells on the surface of the skin. Continued use
of glycolic acids and alpha hydroxy acids appears to stimulate new
cell growth in the skin, giving a more uniform texture and color.
Glycolic acid skin regimens usually involve a series of peels of
increasing acid strength on a weekly or biweekly basis, along with
a home regimen of creams and cleansers.Maintenance in-office peels
are often done every 8 weeks or so to maintain benefits. Other than
minor redness or flaking of the skin, glycolic acid peels usually
produce no significant side effects, allowing you to continue with
your normal daily activities. |
