Peels
It is well established that repeatedly peeling the top layers
of the skin results in improvement of many skin defects. Fine
lines and wrinkles, discolorations, age spots, acne, and large
pores can all be reduced with medical peels. Medical peels greatly
enhance the effects of other anti-aging therapies, such as laser
treatments and Botox therapy. In general, the more aggressively
the skin is peeled, the greater the potential benefits. However,
more aggressive peels also have a greater incidence of side effects.
Often, milder peels done at regular intervals will produce benefits
nearly equal to deeper peels with little to no “down time”.
At Apex, we offer 2 different types of peels to suit your needs.
Superficial peeling is accomplished with the revolutionary DiamondTome
resurfacing system. Unlike older Microdermabrasion systems which
use a stream of crystals blown over the skin to sandblast
the skin, the DiamondTome uses a selection of wands coated with
actual diamond grit and a special vacuum to remove the dead superficial
layers of the skin. The DiamondTome allows for precise judgment
of peel depth to give you the best possible results. The lack
of loose crystals makes the DiamondTome preferable for use before
laser procedures.

Slightly deeper, but still mild peeling is obtained with the
Vitalize Multi-Acid Peel. This process is, again, comfortable,
and produces a reliable peeling and flaking of the skin 2 to 4
days after the procedure. Other than sun avoidance and repeated
skin moisturizers for the week after the procedure, there are
no other major instructions after the Vitalize Peel. A series
of 3 to 4 treatments is usually needed, with maintenance every
few months.

The above medical peels are often performed in various combinations,
often with other procedures, to produce maximum benefits with
the least amount of “down time.”
